LADIES BRUNCH & RIDE FEATURING FIXIE MOM, KALLIEBREE NEALE

If you're an active person or want to be and are looking for something interesting to do then Fixin Diaries Ladies Brunch & Ride could be for you!

They are monthly brunch and rides centered around the cities most popular brunch eateries. The rides all begin and end at the selected brunch eatery. The routes are easy and scenic and are purposefully appetite inducing as post ride, guests get to enjoy the restaurants signature dish. They also happen to be organised by yours truly so your support would certainly be appreciated and your company thoroughly enjoyed.

Our first brunch and ride of the year took place last weekend at Nice on 4th in Parkhurst. We took a leisurely ride along the Braamfontein Spruit, the longest stream in Johannesburg. We also spotted some horses, one was taking a dip and I can't event attempt to describe how beautiful witnessing a moment of nature like that feels. Its just really special and really was a great experience to share especially with fellow mommy and fixie girl Kalliebree Neale who was also in attendance. I did a Joho Moms feature on her and her lovely daughter Selah some time back. You check it out here

Tell us about your fixie?

It's a Specialized Globe Daily 5. It's a 5 speed street commuter bike with an aluminium frame. It's kitted with a basket, fender, kickstand, internal gearing and puncture resistant tyres. Its practical, functional and has understated style. It's like the Volvo of bikes.

Do you ride with your daughter?

I'm a California girl at heart, so I really enjoy leisurely rides. So when we ride we go to the parks in and around our hood.

Selah has now progressed to a pedal bike so she likes to ride on her own. Her first bike was a J-bug, a small bike without pedals, I highly recommend it. It really helped her to develop her core strength and balance which made it easy for her to transition into a pedal bike. She skipped the whole training wheels stage.

What do you enjoy about riding?

I guess what I like most about my bike and riding is that it's a brief escape from the car-hectic insular Jozi lifestyle. As you ride you spot things that you would never see in a car. You meet new people, chat to neighbours and run into friends along the way. It's such a social activity. My bike also has a basket which makes it ideal to run errands in the area. It's such a picturesque experience to be able to quickly ride to the shop or the bakery to pick up a few things. It's like you're not in Joburg.

  1. When we all introduced ourselves here. We were received warmly by all those who participated in the event. Events at LA venues are a lot of fun, giving access to features that aren't always the easiest to get into and aren't always the most wallet friendly.
